Water of Leith

The Water of Leith is a river, which flows 22 miles, from the Pentland Hills, through Edinburgh city and out to the Firth of Forth in Leith. For a tranquil walk or cycle, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can join the Water of Leith Walkway, which runs alongside the river. The river has fascinating links with Edinburgh’s industrial past. In the late 18th century there were 76 mill sites along its banks. And evidence remains today in the old mill buildings and other relics that lay along the route.
