With the dramatic surrounding scenery and fantastic architecture of Edinburgh, visitors to our Scottish capital are always spoilt for choice. There are plenty of things to do in Edinburgh all year round but we have chosen some of the top attractions to get you started. There are of course plenty more activities you can enjoy during your stay at Parliament House, so don’t be afraid to ask our staff for additional information on Edinburgh attractions.
Steeped in history, Edinburgh seamlessly blends old and new to provide visitors with the perfect destination to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of a diverse and vibrant city. Our many historic Scottish buildings, include Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the churches of St. Giles, Greyfriars and the Canongate, and an extensive Georgian New Town built in the 18th century. The city is also famous for the Edinburgh International Festival, which since 1947 has grown (mostly as a result of the Fringe Festival and other associated events) into the biggest annual international arts festival in the world.
Edinburgh’s Old Town and New Town (which is also rather iconic and historic!) are jointly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and host a magical Christmas Market in December.
