Take a walk through Scotland’s dark history with this 70-minute interactive and immersive experience. During the tour, you’ll meet characters from the past, as live actors combine with special effects and amazing sets to bring history to life. A trip to Edinburgh Dungeons is scarily good!
Dungeon Shows
Each show will introduce you to a different character or event from Scottish history. Get tried for hideous crimes in a 17th century courtroom. Become a medical student and witness the autopsy of a Burke and Hare victim. Enter a terrifying torture chamber. Come face to face with Mary Queen of Scots on the day of her execution. Enter the Witch Pricker’s chamber and meet Agnes Finnie, accused of witchcraft. Hear the true story of Mary King’s Close from the Foul Clenger (plague cleaner).
The interactive shows at Edinburgh Dungeon focus on the dark and scary, but are always fun and tongue-in-cheek. So, you can immerse yourself in Scottish history, learn a lot and have a laugh at the same time.

Dungeon Rides & Attractions
There are two scary rides at Edinburgh Dungeons. “The Galloway Boat Ride”, where cannibals Sawny Bean and his family lurk in shadowy caves. And “Drop Dead” a drop ride inspired by the Grassmarket gallows. There’s also a creepy mirror maze, where you might get lost trying to make your way through the Edinburgh Vaults underground.
After the tour, visit the Gift Shop and Tavern, where you can enjoy a soft drink and purchase a souvenir gift or photo.

Visiting Edinburgh Dungeons
Edinburgh Dungeons is located on Market Street, just behind Waverley Station. Check here for opening hours and ticket prices. You can book tickets online in advance to avoid long queues on the day.
