LGBT+ Travel in Edinburgh

Gay travel guide to Edinburgh

Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is a very safe and inclusive place to visit for gay travellers. In fact, Edinburgh has been listed as one of the best LGBT+ cities in the world! It’s also a beautiful, historic and romantic place, perfect for city breaks and Scottish escapes.

Gay-friendly hotels in Edinburgh

We recently hosted bloggers, the Nomadic Boys, at Parliament House Hotel in Edinburgh. They are Stefan and Sebastien. A gay couple who have been travelling together and recording their adventures for the past 7 years. Their hugely successful LGBT+ travel blog helps gay travellers to find places to visit and things to do all across the globe. They share experiences of what it’s like travelling as a same-sex couple. Visiting different countries with different attitudes towards homosexuality. Inspiring and helping others to stay safe and have fun while seeing the world.

We are pleased to see that Stefan and Sebastien loved Edinburgh and found Scottish people kind and welcoming. And we are delighted that they have recommend us as their top Edinburgh hotel, as well as one of the best gay-friendly hotels in Scotland! It seems we won them over with our great location, friendly team, excellent service, comfortable rooms … and, of course, our amazing Scottish breakfasts!

Things to do in Edinburgh

You’ll never be bored on a holiday to this diverse and beautiful city. Our gay-friendly hotel sits at the foot of Calton Hill, perfectly placed for all the top attractions and exciting festivals. Just off the east end of Princes Street, we’re close to the main shopping streets in Edinburgh. And we’re just around the corner from Edinburgh Playhouse, where some of the best touring shows and concerts come to town.

We are also close to the “pink triangle”. An area of gay nightlife centred around the top of Leith Walk. Popular pubs and clubs include CC Blooms, The Street, Habana and Planet. And we are near the route of the Pride Edinburgh march, a huge parade which takes place every June as part of world-wide Pride celebrations.

Edinburgh is known as “the festival city” as we have so many festivals on throughout the year. From our vibrant summer festivals such as the International Festival and Festival Fringe, to our festive Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations. There is always something happening here!

There are plenty of attractions, activities and tours to keep you busy during your stay. Nearby must-see attractions include Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, The Real Mary King’s Close and the National Museum of Scotland. But there are many more, check out our Edinburgh Guide for more ideas of things to do and places to see.
