Things to do this Easter in Edinburgh

Easter Weekend in Edinburgh 2020

Now that the festive season is over, our thoughts turn to the next holiday in the calendar. Easter falls on Friday 10th to Monday 13th April this year. So, lets take a look at what’s on this Easter weekend in Edinburgh to keep us all entertained.

The Edinburgh Science Festival is on throughout the Easter holidays, but its not just for kids and families. There are many science-themed events for grown-ups too, including discussions, debates, workshops, screenings and nights out. The full programme will be released in early February.

For nature-lovers, the Royal Botanic Garden celebrates the Scottish Rhododendron Festival. Discover a magnificent collection of colourful rhododendrons in The Botanics, which flower during April and May.

And if you’re into comics and cosplay, don’t miss Edinburgh Comic Con at the EICC, a convention dedicated to comic book culture. Dress up like your favourite hero or villain, meet with fellow fans and enjoy exhibits and events from the world of comic books, science fiction and fantasy.

Audience at a theatre show

From your accommodation at Parliament House Hotel, head just round the corner to Edinburgh Playhouse for a magical performance of Disney’s The Lion King. This spectacular show has just extended its run with new dates added in April (on sale from 14th January).

There’s also Scottish Ballet’s Swan Lake and Remembering The Oscars at The Festival Theatre, A Monster Calls at The King’s, and Barefoot in the Park at the Royal Lyceum.

And at the same time, Monkey Barrel Comedy showcases a line-up of rising stars in The BIG Sunday show.
