‘When playing the golf courses on the East coast of Scotland near North Berwick, you will get the chance to take in the view of Bass Rock! Such an iconic rock, which you must spend a little time absorbing, rather than just a mere glance.’
– Bass Rock Tripadvisor Review
North Berwick Beaches
North Berwick’s two main beaches are Milsey Bay to the east and West Beach to the west. Both beaches offer spectacular views out across the Firth of Forth. The mighty Bass Rock is an iconic landmark. This is a steep-sided island, home to a large colony of gannets. Famously, the rock looks white from a distance, but it’s actually just the birds that can be seen. The beaches are sandy and very popular for relaxing, playing and sunbathing during the summer months.
The Scottish Seabird Centre is one of North Berwick’s main attractions. Located on the shore, overlooking the Firth of Forth. Here, you can learn about the diverse species of seabirds that inhabit the local area. There is a gift shop and cafe, and the centre runs seasonal guided boat trips around the islands in the Firth of Forth.
