Coming to Edinburgh by Train
There are two mainline Edinburgh train stations. Edinburgh Waverley in the city centre and Haymarket Station in the West End. The two stations are linked and it takes approximately 5 minutes to travel by train between the two. In addition, there are a number of smaller railway stations within the wider area, including Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Park.
Edinburgh Waverley
Waverley is the largest of the Edinburgh train stations and the most central. Located at the east end of Princes Street, between the Old Town and the New Town. Just a 5-minute walk from our hotel. It sits at the end of the East Coast Mainline from London and has links with most major stations around Great Britain. Facilities at Edinburgh Waverley include shops, food outlets and a pub. Toilets, showers, telephones, ticket offices and machines, cash machines, car hire, lost property and free Wi-Fi.
Haymarket Station
Haymarket is Edinburgh’s second largest station. Situated at the West End, it links with Edinburgh Airport and runs services to Fife, Glasgow and much of Scotland. It also links to Waverley and the East Coast Mainline. Facilities at Haymarket include a shop, café and kiosk. Toilets, telephones, ticket office and machines, cash machines and free Wi-Fi.
