Dundee
Dundee is easy to reach by train from Edinburgh, so it makes for a great day trip during your stay with us at Parliament House Hotel. Hop on the train at Waverley Station and you’ll be there in around 1.5 hours. Dundee is a wonderful Scottish city, which lies on the north bank of the Firth of Tay. It has lots of attractions, including two historic ships and several fascinating museums and galleries. There are also many great places to eat, drink, walk and relax.
Two historic ships
The city of Dundee is home to two great ships from history, which are now open as visitor attractions.
RRS Discovery was the ship that took Captain Scott on his famous voyage to the Antarctic in the early 1900s. You can visit Discovery Point to see the vessel for yourself and learn all about her amazing history, with special artefacts, interactive galleries, video and film and more.
HMS Unicorn is Scotland’s oldest ship, launched in 1824. As one of the oldest ships in the world, she has two hundred years’ worth of history to tell. Now you can climb aboard to discover her story, from her days in the Royal Navy to the formation of the Unicorn Preservation Society.
