Murrayfield Golf Club
Murrayfield Golf course is spread across just under 6000 yards of beautiful scenic land. Wrapped around Corstorphine Hill, the course is 1 and a half miles from the heart of Edinburgh. It is also just under 5 miles from us here at Parliament House Hotel. The club has wonderful views of both the castle and the city.
Visitors can enjoy 18 challenging holes comprising of tight fairways and fast greens with views over Edinburgh. The course is next to the world-famous Murrayfield Stadium and beside Edinburgh Zoo. And, with the Zoo so close, you’ll be serenaded by the roar of lions as you play! It is simply one of the most enjoyable courses in Edinburgh.
Murrayfield history
Founded in 1896, the club was originally intended to be a club for locals. Many of the initial members already golfed. While they played over the new fairways stretching on the lower slopes of Corstorphine Hill, they could catch a glimpse of East Lothian and their other courses.
One of the few mixed clubs of its time, Murrayfield Golf Club has hosted a diverse group of golfing greats. From a match between Harry Vardon and James Braid in 1904 to Miss Madge Neill Fraser and Mrs. J. B. Watson (or Mrs. E. C. Beddows) who won the Scottish championship four times throughout the 1920s.
To encourage members to join, circulars were sent out to the local neighbourhood. They were so successful that the club quickly filled up all of its 500 spaces. These days it welcomes all visitors as well as any locals who want to enjoy a round of golf.

Visiting Murrayfield Golf Club
Murrayfield Golf Club is a family-friendly golf club. Visitors of all ages are welcome so, families can enjoy a day out on the wonderful course. All visitors should of course be sure to abide by the club’s ‘smart’ dress code, even the junior golfers. You can play a round or treat yourself to a lesson with one of the three resident, PGA-qualified coaches. And the website has a handy guide to each of the holes so you know what you’re up against. There’s also a pro shop should you need any new balls, clubs, or clothing.
