In Edinburgh, you’ll find the world-famous Murrayfield Stadium, which hosts major rugby tournaments and events. Or, go behind the scenes with a stadium tour, and discover Murrayfield’s rich history for yourself.
As for football, there’s Tynecastle Stadium, home of Heart of Midlothian FC, and Easter Road Stadium, home to Hibernian FC. The two football clubs, called ‘Hearts’ and ‘Hibs’ for short, are fierce rivals. And, when they play each other it’s known as the Edinburgh Derby.
Athletics and Swimming
Meadowbank Sports Centre and the Royal Commonwealth Pool were originally built for the Commonweath Games, which Edinburgh hosted in 1970.
The pool was recently refurbished and the sports centre is currently undergoing a whole new re-build. They are both great local facilities and they also host several professional athletics and swimming competitions.
