The Adventure Begins
After a good night’s sleep and a full breakfast at Parliament House Hotel, you’ll be ready for anything! So let’s get started with the first part of the day…
Morning Climb
The best way to see Edinburgh is from above. And it’s worth a climb to see the breath-taking city skyline in all its glory. In Edinburgh, there are many invigorating walks, which will get your day off to a great start and treat you to the most amazing views.
Just around the corner from our hotel, you can quickly climb Calton Hill to see historical landmarks and stunning vistas. The sloped path is surfaced all the way to the top and easy to walk up. And if you go into the Nelson Monument (admission fees apply), a huge tower on the hill, the scenery gets even better from the viewing platform at the top! Calton Hillwalking route.
Or, if you’re looking for a bigger challenge, why not tackle Arthur’s Seat instead? This extinct volcano in Holyrood Park is over 250 metres high, and the panoramic views it gives of the city are spectacular. This is a longer walk with some rough and rocky terrain. Starting from the Queen’s Drive car park, it takes around 2 hours to reach the summit. Arthur’s Seat walking route.

Energy-Boosting Lunch
You’ll need a good, nutritious lunch after your morning adventure. Some fuel to boost your energy levels, ready for your next activities. In the city centre, we’d suggest the following cafes. Union of Genius for hearty soups. Leo’s Beanery for delicious fresh sandwiches and salads. Honeycomb and Co for spicy mac n cheese or buttery French toast. Roots Deli and Salad Bar for filling soups, stews and pastas.

Afternoon Experiences
In the afternoon, we’d suggest something to get the adrenaline pumping. Outdoor Edinburgh adventure company My Adventure will transport you out of the city centre, where you can take part in activities like canyoning, coasteering, mountain biking and canoeing. Contact them in advance to find out what they can offer for an afternoon experience.

Adventurous Dinner
Let’s continue the adventure theme with an adventurous dinner in Edinburgh. Discover a cuisine you’ve never tried before! In Edinburgh, you can eat around the globe. Try new Indian-Irani flavours at Dishoom. Sample some sushi at Chizuru Tei. Or, go for something authentically Scottish in one of the many local restaurants.
Don’t forget a wee nightcap in our lounge to unwind after such an adventure-filled day. We have an extensive list of Highland, Island and Lowland whiskies for you to sample. Plus wines, spirits and soft drinks.
