Edinburgh Relaxing Itinerary
What to do on a Relaxing Break in Edinburgh
Many of our guests come to Edinburgh to take some time out and get away from it all. Our beautiful city is the ideal tranquil retreat. So, we’ve put together this one-day itinerary of stress-busting activities, just perfect for a relaxing break.
A Leisurely Morning
After a comfortable night in your hotel room at Parliament House, make your way down to our breakfast room for a hearty Scottish or continental breakfast. Choose as much as you like from the continental buffet and then order a freshly cooked full Scottish breakfast. Take your time to enjoy a tea or coffee, browse the morning’s papers and get ready for the day ahead.
Spa and Afternoon Tea
Many of the local spas offer spa and afternoon tea deals. This is a wonderfully relaxing way to spend the day. Enjoy a relaxing spa treatment, use of leisure facilities and a delicious afternoon tea. Total bliss!
See the Sights
A short walking tour is a great introduction to our historic city. This allows you to see many of the sights, but without having to plan your own heavy schedule. You can simply stroll through the cobbled streets on your relaxing break, led by an expert guide, who will point out all the highlights. Popular tour companies include Sandeman’s Tours and Mercat Tours.
Or, if you’re ready for a wee dram in the afternoon, why not take a tour of Edinburgh’s only single malt whisky distillery, Holyrood Distillery? If whisky’s not your thing, there’s also Edinburgh Gin Distillery, Pickering’s Gin Distillery and Barney’s Beer Microbrewery. All offer fascinating tours, where you can see how your favourite tipple is made and sample some for yourself.
Comedy Show and Dinner
There is no better way to let off some steam on a relaxing break than with a good laugh. Edinburgh is famous for its comedy, and if you visit here in August you will be spoilt for choice with hundreds of shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. But year-round, you’ll find laughs galore at The Stand or Monkey Barrel comedy clubs.
For dinner, we’d love to welcome you back to your room with a takeout, or you can enjoy one of the many, many fantastic local restaurants. Our Edinburgh Hotel is just a few minutes walk from George Street and it’s wonderful dining scene, as well as St Andrew’s square. Here you will find the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some seriously good food.
Finally, head back to Parliament House Hotel to relax out with a nightcap in our lounge, before heading up to your hotel room for a great night’s sleep.
‘Lovely traditional hotel, staff very friendly. The rooms had everything we needed and quiet. The choice of breakfast was excellent, so were the evening meals. Good easy location for the railway station and tourist spots will definitely stay there again.’
