Calton Hill

For guests staying with us at Parliament House Hotel, your first stop has to be the top of Calton Hill. Right on our doorstep, this is one of the best views in Edinburgh!

The Vennel Steps

From the top of the Vennel steps, off the Grassmarket, you get the most remarkable view of Edinburgh Castle, which looks so atmospheric here on a wet and foggy night.

The Gardener’s Lodge

This pretty little Victorian cottage in Princes Street Gardens was originally the Head Gardener’s house. Now lovingly restored, it looks like something straight out of a fairy tale!

Victoria Street

Some say this picturesque street was the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series, with its old-fashioned shop fronts and steep incline.

Waverley Station

The beautiful ceiling windows in the waiting room at Edinburgh’s Waverley Station are something of a hidden gem. Don’t forget to look up when waiting for your train!

Armchair Books

This quirky bookshop, Armchair Books, in the West Port has a magical quality to it. Certainly one of those unusual interiors worthy of your Instagram feed.

Circus Lane

Every Instagrammer worth their salt wants to get a snap of Circus Lane. This cute wee lane near Stockbridge provides the perfect backdrop for your next great profile pic.

New College

This is an amazing viewpoint taken from the New College building at the top of Mound, part of the University of Edinburgh. During August each year it becomes the Assembly Hall Fringe festival venue.

Colinton Tunnel

Head out of town to the Colinton Tunnel on the Water of Leith for many a photo opportunity. From a sweeping rainbow overhead to a huge pair of angel wings, this colourful railway tunnel is Insta gold!

Arthur’s Seat

Take a hike up Arthur’s Seat and the Salisbury Crags in Holyrood Park for phenomenal views in all directions. This extinct volcano is now a popular walking spot.
