Edinburgh Horror Festival 2024

The Edinburgh Horror Festival is back once again to celebrate all things ghoulish, gruesome and ghastly! So in preparation, we thought we’d share everything you need to know about this Halloween event.

The Edinburgh Horror Festival is a multi-arts festival, which runs for five days around Halloween. It incorporates everything from theatre, movies, magic shows, games, workshops, interactive events and more. This year, the festival will return from October 31st to November 4th, 2024. Tickets will go on sale in the Summer of 2024 for the Main Festival.

Visit Edinburgh’s haunted underbelly

Horror Festival events will take place mainly at the Banshee Labyrinth, one of the most haunted pubs in Edinburgh. Built into the 250-year-old underground vaults, believed to be among the most haunted places in the world! The second venue events will take place at is Lauriston Castle. On most days, shows will run from around 5 pm to 10:30 pm. There will also be a programme of spooky walking tours, departing from Old Town locations. Most events are for over 18s only.

You can book tickets for shows and walking tours in advance on the Edinburgh Horror Festival website. (Programme to be announced soon). You can also buy show tickets from the Banshee Labyrinth box office, open between 5 pm and 9 pm on festival days. The venues are smaller, intimate spaces it is advised to book tickets ahead of time.​

Monthly Events

If you’re a fan of spooky happenings, the Edinburgh Horror Festival offers a range of thrilling monthly events that will keep you on the edge of your seat. “Saturday Fight Live” brings a unique blend of live-action role-playing and horror-themed combat, where participants face off in chilling scenarios. “Stand Up Horror” features comedians who embrace the darker side of humour, delivering jokes that are as eerie as they are funny. Meanwhile, “The Ghosts of the Banshee” delves into the supernatural with immersive storytelling and interactive experiences that bring local legends and ghostly tales to life. Each event promises its brand of spine-tingling excitement, ensuring that horror enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to throughout the year.
