Edinburgh International Book Festival
The Edinburgh International Book Festival is an annual literary festival, held in the last three weeks of August every year. It began in 1983 and was held every other year until 1997 when it became an annual event. Now it is one of the main summer festivals in Edinburgh, happening around the same time as the International Festival, Festival Fringe and Military Tattoo.

The Book Festival and most of its events are based in a tented village in Charlotte Square Gardens, at the west end of Princes Street. There’s also a festival book shop, café-bar and box office on George Street nearby. With exciting events for adults, teens and children, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Edinburgh Book Festival Programme and Tickets
Today, the festival programme features over 900 events, aimed at audiences of all ages. Writers, illustrators and performers come together to inspire and entertain. With a range of events from interviews, workshops, storytelling sessions, arts and crafts and so much more.
