Following the success of the inaugural Edinburgh Horror Festival last year, this horrifying festival is back once again to send shivers down your spine. So in preparation of all things ghoulish, gruesome and ghastly, we thought we’d share everything you need to know about celebrating Halloween in Edinburgh with the Edinburgh Horror Festival.
What? A Festival Entirely Dedicated To Halloween in Edinburgh!
That’s right. The Edinburgh Horror Festival is a multi-art-form celebration of all things Halloween. It runs every year over the weekend just before Halloween in Edinburgh, and incorporates everything from theatre, movies, magic shows, games, workshops, interactive events and more.
When? Leading Up To Ol’ Hallows Eve Of Course
This year, the Edinburgh Horror Festival will be resurrected on Friday the 27th of October. And instead of just running over the pre-Halloween in Edinburgh weekend, the horrifying festivities will continue right up until the big day … Halloween!
Where? In Edinburgh’s Haunted Underbelly
In true fringe festival style, 220 performances of 60 different shows will be taking place in seven venues across the city. Venues include the Banshee Labyrinth, Monkey Barrel Comedy Club, Tron Pub, CC Blooms, Lauriston Castle and the Waverley. And since these are some of Edinburgh’s most popular haunts, we recommend arriving a little earlier to get great seats.
How? Just Book An October Halloween Holiday Deal
The majority of shows are free, and you don’t need to book any tickets. But there is a kind of unspoken rule to pay-what-you-want (in other words, make a small donation) at the end of all free shows. So all that’s left to do, is book an unbelievable holiday deal and celebrate this Halloween in Edinburgh with the Edinburgh Horror Festival and the Parliament House Hotel. Enjoy 2 night’s B&B in the heart of Edinburgh, dinner on the first night of your stay, PLUS 2 tickets to one of Edinburgh’s world-famous ghost tours.
