The Edinburgh Christmas Market is one of the things that make the city such a special place to be over the festive season. Come and celebrate Christmas in true Edinburgh style when you stay with us at the Parliament House Hotel.
The Edinburgh Christmas experience is more than your run-of-the-mill festive market. There are so many things to see and do that will delight the whole family, from craft fairs to shows, ice skating, circuses, parties and plenty of free events for you to enjoy.
Here are a few of the highlights we’re looking forward to this year:
Light Night – 23rd November
The official opening of the Edinburgh Christmas Market on 23rd November is an event not to be missed. More than 1,000 performers from schools and community groups across the city will be performing Christmas songs at 50 different stages along St George’s Street. The climax of the event is a terrific fireworks display and the official lights switch-on around 5pm. This free event is a delight for the whole family and is an annual fixture for many people. Come along and help us celebrate.
The Scottish Market – 21st November – 4th January
Visit the traditional Scottish market in St Andrew’s square to browse a delectable range of seasonal craftwork and goodies. From homemade sausages to candy canes and hand-knitted scarves, enjoy the atmosphere and pick up a Christmas treat or two for you and the family.
St Andrew’s Day Extravaganza – 30th November
It may not be Christmas, but Scotland’s National Saint’s Day on 30th November is a date worth celebrating. We’re partying in true Scottish style here in Edinburgh with a day and evening of free events at the Spiegeltent. Activities and shows include dance displays, ceilidh bands, folk quartets, storytellers and free ice skating sessions. We can’t wait!
