What’s on at Edinburgh Playhouse in 2025?
Parliament House Hotel is just a short walk from Edinburgh Playhouse. As we are so close, many of our guests enjoy a show at this fantastic theatre during their stay with us. The Playhouse has the largest capacity of any theatre in the UK, seating up to 3059 guests. It was built as a cinema in 1929, but today it is a live theatre. It presents a wide range of musicals, concerts, dramas and variety shows. So, here are some of the best shows coming up in 2025 …
Musical Theatre
The Playhouse hosts some of the biggest musicals in town. February sees the famous Chicago and Kinky Boots hit the stage. Then in March, The Greatest Showman is on followed by Moulin Rouge from April to June. Following this, musicals Dear Evan Hansen, Six, Miss Saigon and Tina are here to entertain all musical lovers right through to December 2025!
Music, Opera and Dance
There’s a wide variety of music and dance performances on the 2025 programme. Queen Extravaganza, The Rock Orchestra by Candlelight, A Country Night in Nashville, Showaddywaddy, Voulez Vous – The Music of ABBA, Sounds Of The 60s Live, Tim Minchin – Songs The World Will Never Hear and Alice Cooper offer some musical entertainment. Captivating dance acts include Nikita Kuzmin – Midnight Dancer from Strictly Come Dancing and Riverdance 30: The New Generation. And if you fancy a night at the Opera, performances this year are Ellen Kent: La Bohème and llen Kent: Madama Butterfly.
Comedy and other shows
The biggest stars in comedy will be performing their latest stand-up shows. This year’s lineup includes Paul Smith: Pablo, Rhod Gilbert & The Giant Grapefruit, Greg Davies: Full Fat Legend, Here Comes the Guillotine LIVE, Russell Kane: HyperActive, Rob Beckett: Giraffe, Joanne McNally: Pinotphile and Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf. Other shows include Dr Rangan Chatterjee: The Thrive Tour, Andy Murray – Centre Stage, The Night Sky Show and Saving Grace
