Getting around with Edinburgh taxis
When public transport isn’t an option, you might need a taxi to get you from A to B. Black cabs, similar to the ones found in London, operate within the City of Edinburgh. How to get a taxi
If you are staying with us at Parliament House Hotel, simply ask at reception and we can arrange a taxi for you. Or if you’re out and about you can call a taxi company directly, such as CityCabs or Central Taxis. Many taxi companies now have apps, which you can download to your phone and use to book a ride too.
Within the city, there are designated taxi ranks, where you can wait for a ride. At busy times there may be a queue. List of licensed Edinburgh taxi ranks.
If you want to hail a taxi in the street, look out for cabs with their yellow light switched on. This means they are available and you can give them a wave to flag them down.

Getting around Edinburgh
In addition to our great taxi services, Edinburgh has a wonderful public transport system, with plenty of local buses, trams and trains. Our hotel is located within a few minutes’ walk of Waverley Train Station, with bus and tram stops just around the corner.
