Getting to and around Edinburgh
Edinburgh has a great transport network, with its own airport, train stations and bus station. As Scotland’s capital, the city has excellent national and international connections. So whether you’re travelling here by plane, train or coach, from overseas or elsewhere in the UK, getting here is easy! And once you’re here, Edinburgh is very easy to get around on foot or by public transport.
Travel to Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a very well connected city. It has an international airport, which is on the outskirts, with easy access to and from the city centre via car, bus, tram, train or taxi. For travel within the country, there are two main train stations in the city centre, Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket Station, and there is also a central bus station.
If you’re driving here, please note on-street parking in the city centre is restricted. However, there are several large car parks. We recommend QPARK Omni, where guests of Parliament House Hotel receive a discount.
Travel around Edinburgh
Edinburgh city centre is easy to get around on foot, although it is quite hilly. Thankfully, we have a great public transport service too. Local buses can take you to all four corners of the city and beyond. We also have a regular tram service which runs from the airport to the city centre and back. In addition, black cabs operate throughout the city, which you can book in advance or flag down in the street if their light is on.
