5 Dishes To Sink Your Teeth Into This Winter In Our Edinburgh Restaurant

There is no denying there are many great places to eat in Edinburgh. It is one of the best parts of visiting Scotland’s beautiful capital city. Delicious food, fabulous festivals and great historic scenery can be found down just about every cobbled street. But when it comes to the best value restaurants in Edinburgh, you will be hard pressed to find a more deliciously affordable Edinburgh restaurant than our very own MP’s Bistro. And with an all-new Winter Menu on offer, we are spilling the beans on our favourite dishes to try when visiting our little Bistro in Edinburgh.

If you have always thought a starter was something to hold you over until the main course arrives, you are in for a treat. A great starter sets the tone for the rest of the evening. And while all of our starters are absolutely decadent, there is one that takes the cake. If you have never given a fig about duck before, you have to try our home smoked duck breast, fig and mozzarella salad with Port, thyme and orange dressing. Light, crisp and bursting with flavour, it is the perfect start to what promises to be a pretty great night out.

2. Wild Highland Venison Casserole

When it comes to choosing the perfect main dish, you really are spoilt for choice. From gluten free dishes and vegetarian options, to meaty munches and saucy sauces, there is something for everyone at the MP’s Bistro. And when it comes to a cold winter night in Edinburgh, you can’t go wrong with a warm, hearty casserole. Tuck in to our wild Highland venison casserole with parsnip rosti and root vegetables.

For the more traditional Scottish fayre, we recommend our homemade Perthshire beef burger with hand cut chips, battered onion rings, pickle and green chilli (yum!). With its delicious thick, beefy, meaty patty, fresh bread and a hearty helping of chips, it is the epitome of decadence.

4. Fillet Or Steak

And finally we have a dinner classic, fillet or steak. Sink your teeth into a pan roast Perthshire 7oz fillet, or an 8oz Rib eye steak – cooked to perfection and served with mushrooms, slow roast cherry vine tomatoes and chunky fries. The only thing missing is a stunning sauce. Simple add an Arran mustard butter or peppercorn sauce and you are all set.

Last, but definitely not least, wrap things up with something sinfully sweet. All of our desserts, including our wonderfully creative selection of ice creams, are freshly made by our chefs. And when it comes to eating out during the festive season, what is dinner in Edinburgh without Christmas pudding with brandy sauce?
