Spring is in the air and we’ve got so much to look forward to here in Edinburgh. We love this time of year, as the nights become lighter and the weather a little warmer. So, here are some of the brightest and best upcoming Edinburgh events of the season.
Edinburgh Events: Lumen
8th February – 11th March 2018. Starting tomorrow, Edinburgh Lumen is a dazzling trio of immersive light installations. It will transform St Andrew Square, Assembly Rooms Lane and The Mound Precinct with light illuminations, animated projections and calming music. This is set to be a real show-stopper of an event. And best of all, it’s free. So, you can experience a little haven of tranquility in the city centre.
Edinburgh International Science Festival
31st March – 15th April 2018. Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival was the first of its kind and is still one of the biggest celebrations of science and technology. And, the organisers have just announced this year’s explosive programme today. It includes an array of amazing events for children, adults and families. Many spaces in Edinburgh will become Science Festival hubs for discussions and debate, exploration and discovery. These include the City Art Centre, the National Museum of Scotland, Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh Zoo and Dynamic Earth. Be sure to book in advance, as events are popular.
TradFest Edinburgh (Dùn Èideann)
26th April – 6th May 2018. TradFest is a traditional Gaelic celebration, marking the end of winter and the start of summer. The festival takes inspiration from the past but reinterprets for a modern audience. A fortnight of exciting events start with Scotland’s Beltane and May Day celebrations. Scottish and international artists and performers will come together to produce over eighty events and shows, across several city venues. With traditional music, dance and storytelling, there’s something for all ages to enjoy. The programme will be released soon, with tickets available to book online.
