An Easter Classic
Chocolate lovers and kids alike rejoice when Easter comes about, chocolate eggs are back in season and there’s no shortage of egg hunts throughout the Scottish capital – however, one stands out amongst all the rest, the Royal Botanic Garden’s egg hunt. Running between the 24th of March and the 3rd of April, 10 to 6, the hunt runs along several trails from previous years and one new one, specially made for the event.
Of course, no Easter trail would be complete without a prize. This year, both a spectacularly delicious Lindt Gold Bunny and a Golden Egg are hidden somewhere along the trails. Follow the clues, smell the gorgeous flowers in the Gardens and take the chance to really get back to nature – chocolate is an excellent motivator.
Enriching With Easter
It might be a hard concept to grasp, but Easter isn’t just about chocolate! It’s also about sharing; about making other’s happy and really coming together as a community. The Edinburgh Zoo, only half an hour away from your luxury lodgings here at Parliament House, is hosting their annual Easter Enrichment service on the 26th of March. Free with the normal Zoo Admission, you can take the time to wander the Zoo and see the animals before checking out the event.
The Easter Enrichment itself is run to promote the natural behaviours of the animals at the Zoo – to this end, the staff invites guests to get creative and help out with creating themed items for the animals to interact with. Of course, you’ll also get the chance to watch the animals do just that!
If you’re looking for something a little more ‘out there’ (or just don’t fancy chocolate!) then there’s always the Edinburgh Pub Crawl. Starting on the 26th of March at Jakes Place, Market Street, the Easter Pub Crawl will feature several scavenger hunts and prize giveaways. Tickets are available now, though you must be 18 or older to attend!
Easter in Edinburgh is a time for sharing, caring, chocolate and a splash of fun, though there’s always plenty more to do in and around Edinburgh over March if you’re not taking part in the celebrations! Explore the city, indulge a little and go hopping mad this March.
