Things to do this Easter Weekend in Edinburgh

Easter weekend in Edinburgh 2023

Now that the festive season is over, our thoughts turn to the next holiday in the calendar. Easter falls on Friday 7th to Monday 10th April this year. So, let’s take a look at what’s on this Easter weekend in Edinburgh to keep us all entertained.

Festivals

The Edinburgh Science Festival is on throughout the Easter holidays, but it’s not just for kids and families. There are many science-themed events for grown-ups too, including discussions, debates, workshops, screenings and nights out. This year’s festival programme will be released soon with the theme “Let’s experiment”.

Harp players and music lovers will gather at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival to celebrate all things harp, with concerts, workshops and courses at George Watson’s College. This is the UK’s premier harping event and has been taking place in Edinburgh for over forty years!

Theatre

From your accommodation at Parliament House Hotel, head just round the corner to Edinburgh Playhouse for a delicious performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This fantastical musical, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, is on until 15th April.

Also on Easter weekend, there’s the amazing tribute concert Meatloaf by Candlelight at the Assembly Rooms (7th April), Tommy Blaize & NYJO present The Music of Ray Charles at the Usher Hall (7th April) and the world premiere stage adaption of Wish You Were Dead (until 8th April) at the Festival Theatre.
