1. Cheers! It’s Time For German BierFest Edinburgh

What better way to get the Edinburgh festivities underway than with the one and only BierFest? From the 1st until the 4th of June, the annual German BierFest Edinburgh is coming to West Princes Street Gardens. Which means for four fabulous days, you can enjoy a host of traditional Bavarian fun in the heart of Edinburgh. Raise a glass to bratwurst and lederhosen in the open-air beer and sektgarden, sink your teeth into traditional German food and drink your fill of traditional German beer in the Bavarian FestTent.

2. Leith Festival: One Of Our Favourite Summer Festivals In Edinburgh

From foreign festivities in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, to something a little closer to home, head to the streets of Leith for the only festival in Edinburgh for the people by the people. The annual Leith Festival is a 9-day extravaganza of Leith’s vibrant community. From music and theatre to arts, pageants and galas, Leith Festival is pretty much a celebration of all things Leith. With a number of free events (all within walking distance from the Parliament House Hotel), it is always one of our favourite summer festivals in Edinburgh.

3. Break The Cycle With The Edinburgh Festival of Cycling

Next up on our list of Edinburgh Summer Festivals to look forward to, is a relatively new festival to Edinburgh. But in true Edinburgh style and tradition, the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling is every bit as weird, wonderful and quirky as all our other summer festivals. Now in its fifth year, EdFoC will be showcasing all the aspects of bike culture in venues across the city. Jam-packed with rides, races, exhibitions, workshops and family events, it is one of Active Traveller Magazine’s top 10 Cycling Festivals in Europe for 2017!

4. Simply Spellbinding: Edinburgh International Magic Festival

MagicFest is back for another year of amazing stunts and jaw-dropping performances from illusionists, mindreaders and magicians from around the world. And this year, festival organisers have a few special tricks up their sleeve. Announcing their biggest festival to date, MagicFest has teamed up with some of Edinburgh’s most historic sites to celebrate the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. With all your favourite magic shows, workshops and performances, not to mention a few new surprises here and there, this is one Edinburgh Festival you don’t want to miss.

5. Jazzing Up Edinburgh In Summer Is The Jazz and Blues Festival

From magic to Mardi Gras, Edinburgh in July is all about the summer festivals. So from the 14th until the 23rd of July, get your groove on as Edinburgh is transformed into the centre of soul at the annual Jazz and Blues Festival. The very best Jazz and Blues artists from around the world will be taking centre stage in various venues throughout Edinburgh, including the Festival Theatre, the Famous Speigeltent on George Square and the Grassmarket in Edinburgh’s Old Town. On the 15th of July, Mardi Gras (one of the festivals free highlights) comes to the Grassmarket, before the famous Edinburgh Festival Carnival on The Mound.

6. The National Whisky Festival: Sláinte

Not to be outdone by the Jazz and Blues Festival or all that Edinburgh summer festival jazz, is the National Whisky Festival. This year, the National Whisky Festival is coming to Edinburgh for the first time. With over 40 of the best exhibitors, live entertainment and all your favourite drams, the festival is quite literally a celebration of distilling excellence in Scotland. So if you fancy a tipple, this is one of those summer festivals in Edinburgh you definitely don’t want to miss!

7. The Edinburgh Art Festival: A True Edinburgh Work Of Art

And finally, what would summer festivals in Edinburgh be without the largest annual festival of visual arts in the UK? Rounding off the Edinburgh festivals in July, the Edinburgh Art Festival will showcase 45 amazing art exhibitions across 35 venues from the 27th of July until the 27th of August. This month-long exhibition of some of the best Scottish and international artists is a work of art in itself.
