Water wellness activities in Edinburgh

Explore Edinburgh while exploring water wellness

Edinburgh is not known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world for nothing. Home to beaches, castles, an ancient volcano and of course, our Parliament House Hotel. The beloved Scottish capital is a city you won’t tire of exploring. From visiting Portobello Beach, to taking a walk by the Water of Leith, Edinburgh is not short of outdoor
activities to clear your lungs and clear your head. With the help of VisitScotland, we’ve put together a list of just a few of the ways you can take a well-deserved break from the humdrum of life and immerse yourself in water wellness while staying with us.

Indulge your inner beach-bum with a trip to Portobello Beach

Edinburgh has some beautiful coastline. Why not escape the city life for a visit to Portobello Beach? The beach is just a short 10-minute drive from the city centre and is perfect for visiting in all conditions. Visit in the warmer months and enjoy an ice cream while dipping your toes into the Forth, or wrap up for a visit in the colder months to enjoy the refreshing sea air.

Admire the city with a stroll down by the Water of Leith

The Water of Leith is the river that runs through the capital and, wherever you might venture in Edinburgh, you’re never too far from finding your way back to the calming ripples nearby. The walkway that runs by it is 20km in length, after all. This somewhat hidden, natural asset to the hilly city makes for the perfect place for a leisurely stroll to escape the noise. Soothe your spirit as you listen to the peaceful sounds of the flowing water and bathe in water wellness without actually having to get yourself wet! If walking isn’t for you, why not visit the Water of Leith Visitor Centre where you can experience the free interactive exhibition.

Seafood, seafood and seafood!

Scottish seafood is world-renowned for its glorious flavours, so what better place to try some than the capital city? Edinburgh certainly isn’t short of mouth-watering restaurants, many of which will offer freshly caught Scottish seafood.
Try a welcoming fish and chip shop or, if you’d rather opt for a more delectable dining experience, why not try a restaurant like Fishers in the City or The Ship on the Shore?
