We love Edinburgh in July!
If the hustle and bustle during the Edinburgh International Festival and Festival Fringe isn’t for you … why not come to Edinburgh in July instead? Quieter, cheaper and a much more relaxing experience, there’s still loads happening! The sun is usually shining and there are lots of things to do during your stay at Parliament House Hotel.
Concerts at the castle
Edinburgh Castle is the stunning backdrop for concerts each July. This year, we can look forward to Deacon Blue (9th July), Texas (14th July), Elbow (15th July) and The Script (16th July). All taking to the stage to rock the Castle Esplanade.
There’s more to Edinburgh festivals than just the International Festival and Fringe.
Edinburgh July 2022 hosts the Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival. Running from 15th to 24th July, this music festival takes place at venues around the city such as the Jazz Bar and the Spiegeltent (a must!) as well as the Festival Theatre and Assembly Hall. There’s also the amazing Mardi Gras on Saturday 16th July and Edinburgh Festival Carnival on Sunday 17th July – Two free events over an exciting weekend of entertainment and celebration!
Art lovers get the chance to immerse themselves in the work of one of the most influential artists of all time, with Van Gogh Alive. An amazing multi-sensory experience happening in Festival Square until 17th July. Step inside some of Van Gogh’s most famous masterpieces in a spectacular purpose-built venue.
In addition, we have Edinburgh Food Festival taking place from 22nd to 31st July. This 10-day event in George Square Gardens showcases the best food and drink from around Scotland. With an array of stalls and stands, workshops and demonstrations. What’s more, entrance to the gardens is free!
Scottish summer in the city
As if that wasn’t enough, Edinburgh Playhouse (just around the corner from us) presents a varied programme of concerts, comedy and musical theatre. Musical highlights include Disney’s The Lion King, finishing on 2nd July, Footloose playing 19th to 23rd July, and The Carpenters Story on 25th July. Plus comedy from Alan Carr on 18th and 9th July, and Russel Howard on 13th July. See full listings here.
