What’s on in Edinburgh this spring?

Welcome to Edinburgh in spring 2024

We love Edinburgh in spring, as the nights become lighter and the weather a little warmer. The entire city undergoes a blossoming, colourful transformation. Snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils burst forth and frosty gardens are carpeted with drops of white, yellow and purple as far as the eye can see. Like the calm before the storm, the entire city slowly wakes from a winter-long hibernation before bursting forth into summer festival madness. Sure, there is still a bit of a nip in the air, but if you can brave the crisp clear springtime air, it’s worth it. Because it’s the perfect time to visit our vibrant capital city. So, here are some of the brightest and best upcoming Edinburgh events of the season.

Spectacular spring shows

Throughout the spring season from March to May, there are some huge hit shows coming to Edinburgh Playhouse, such as Pretty Woman The Musical, Madagascar The Musical and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We have comedy from the likes of Frankie Boyle and Romesh Ranganathan. Also, dance with Johannes Radebe: House of JoJo and Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals. See a full list of what’s on here.

Book early for these fabulous shows as they are known to sell out quickly. And we’re just a short walk from the theatre, so you don’t need to worry about getting home after the performance.

Meadows Marathon

Kick-start your spring with the Meadows Marathon on Sunday 3rd March 2024. This running festival includes a 5K, 10K, relay, half marathon and full marathon. You can register to take part in any of these events, or go down on the day to cheer on the runners. Many will be raising money for charities and important causes. There will be live music and a great, supportive atmosphere, so get involved! Find out more.
